Amy Hughes

Freelance writer, editor, and social media manager

I’m Amy Hughes, a 27-year-old freelance writer and editor. I graduated with first-class degrees in English Literature (University of York) and a Master’s in English with American Studies (University of Oxford) in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and since then I have been forging a career in online media.

I have worked mainly in content marketing in the higher education sector, though I have also written on a variety of topics across full-time and freelance roles. My previous role was as Digital Content Editor with a focus on Education at the Institute of Art and Ideas, where I spearheaded the IAI’s burgeoning Education proposition as they transitioned from free content to a subscriptions model. Find out more about my work history at the Curriculum Vitae page above.

In my free time I enjoy reading and reviewing books on my Instagram account, @writtenontheflyleaves. I also have a blog by the same name, where I write personal essays and review books, music, tv, and film.

Let’s work together
